The Public Works Department is responsible for management,
operation, and maintenance of public roads and bridges, storm
drains within the public right of way, County landfills and
transfer station, within the unincorporated area of the County.
In addition the Department is responsible for planning,
financing, and implementing a Capital Improvement Program
consisting of road and bridge projects. Public Works issues
permits for encroachments within the County road right of way,
and various transportation permits for the road system. The
Department is organized into several divisions: Road
Commissioner/Transportation Executive Director, County Engineer,
Administration, Accounting, Road Department, Surveying,
Engineering, Program Management and Transit.
